【MODEL】：SashiCo Jacket #008A
【NAME】：Front-Matsu / Back-Tsuru Special Kofu Jacket
【MATERIAL】： Cotton 100% (Kofu - old fabric)
* It was a big decision for Keiko to purchase this fabric when she saw it in the market. Besides the price itself, it was a set of Kimono - not the clean sheet of fabric. When she worked for the company "Hida Sashiko", employees in the company took a kimono part to the fabric and cleaned them so we could use them as material. Since old fabric is fragile without appropriate care, taking a kimono part and cleaning require the special skills; it is also the professional job. Keiko worried if she might make a hole or make it torn out, and if she could make a jacket with these fragile fabric. She took a risk, and she overcame the problem. This beautiful jacket is the return of taking the risk.
* This is a reversible Jacket. Keiko used the green color old fabric for lining. This green fabric also aged beautifully so it matches the front fabric in terms of the design and making the fabric stronger. Keiko took extra care of the part where fabric was too weaken. In order to fix fabric strong enough, the part where stitched by machine are very rare on this jacket. Most of the stitching and sawing is done by hand stitching, even in tailoring. Therefore, it has the unique soft texture. It is very comfortable to wear.
* Keiko believes the pattern of Tsuru (Crane) and Matsu (Pine tree) is the symbolic design in Japanese textile culture. She dreams of the exhibition in the U.S. where Atsushi lives now so this could be the jacket to introduce what Japanese textile culture is like, and ultimately what Sashiko is. Regardless of worries for weak fabric and difficulties of fixing it, she enjoyed making this jacket. It became like a puzzle game at the end of the production process.
